Projects

Net Collective is developing web applications and content-oriented websites. Our software is built on a strong stack of free software (free as in freedom), including Python, Pylons, CouchDB and GNU/Linux. Net Collective also releases the majority of its own work as open source software. Not just to give back to the open source community, but also to benefit from its advantages. Check our repositories on bitbucket.org for active open source efforts by Net Collective.

It is very likely that number of different projects will be trimmed down in the future, in order to focus on vix and one main website project. For now, however, the idea is to explore different opportunities and take the time to go through several stages of research and prototyping before taking one road all the way.

Vix.io is a document publishing and management platform and its code is available under the Apache License. Vix is much more than a storage and filing system for documents. In fact, the term document probably makes you think of a letter or a legal contract. But in this case the term should be understood in a much more abstract sense. A document in Vix can be anything from an e-mail to a weblog post, or even a video or photograph.

Vix includes portability by design. The data is exchanged through JSON or the Atom Publishing Protocol. This means that you can connect Vix to third-party services or external scripts and applications. Vix also enables users to build front-end web applications that display the stored documents to the user.

You can find more information about Vix on the wiki on Bitbucket.
